Flushing Bearden Landscape

The assignment was to create a Bearden neighborhood on Photoshop. It's to represent the borough you live in and your “turf”. This project had the inspiration of Romare Bearden, who made collage work. This Photoshop project is like a collage because you’re taking bits and pieces of other images and you’re somehow connecting them together to make your neighborhood. I live in Queens and I decided to do my neighborhood because it's the main place I’m familiar with and home is always the most relaxing place to go to for me. Where I live does influence me based on who I am because the people I meet, the food I eat, and the opportunities offered shape my mindset and all the things I do. The most challenging part of this assignment was choosing what part of Queens I want to represent because of the many places I’ve been to and loved. With this project, there is much non-destructive editing involved. Non-destructive editing means not getting rid of any progress from your work. In my project I locked all the layers I’m using for the background, arranged my layers to make sure everything is correctly placed, and I used marquee tools to help me erase specific parts that are unnecessary. If I were to do something differently, it would be that I would add some effects to add more depth and life to the images I used.
